I was worried it might be dull and fail to hold the attention but the time actually flew by, I was hooked in the narrative and genuinely cared about the characters, especially the lead, despite them not really being readily identifiable. The film was compelling adapting the source novel which one suspects provides the bulk of the outline very well, though slight omissions seem obvious. Acting and direction are uniformly brilliant and overall the experience was very enjoyable, especially for a movie I wasn't sure was my cup of tea.
